This poker variant is player between a player and the casino house, unlike other poker games where the game is played between more than two players and a dealer. Video poker is an online poker game where the screen has a list of winning card hand combinations along with a betting table.

Some of the terms used in this poker variant are Draw and Hold. Player has to first insert money and then click on Draw button also known as Deal in some casino sites. On clicking on a Draw button, player is dealt with five random cards displayed on the screen. Now player can either chose to continue with the first set of drawn cards or can replace them with new ones. In video poker, player can either replace one or more than one card or can even replace all the cards with new ones.

When a player decides to replace one or more card, he or she has to simply click on the Hold button given below each card. The cards held are the ones that get replaced. Once the cards are held, player has to again click on the Deal or Draw button to get the next set of cards. The second set of cards is the final hand and player can not replace anymore cards. The hand created here is the final hand that decides the fate of the game.
